JoinFS Linking With FSX:SE Multiplayer Session

Postby RedMugs » Sat Sep 07, 2019 1:55 am

As title states. Looking to do this. Able to get it to the point where I can have the people on the JoinFS server see the FSX Multiplayer traffic, but am having trouble getting it going the the other way. Any ideas?

I see why you would want to do this, but I'd advise not to do it.

I tried this in the early days of JoinFS and it can be fairly dangerous, in that you end up creating multiple spawns in the multiplayer session.

Mixing JoinFS and default multiplayer is a bad idea and should be avoided.

Surely if you don't allow everyone multiple objects there wouldn't be that much of an issue? I'd still love to test it and see how it goes. Any ideas?

2 PCs with one aircraft on each.

PC 1 setup as an FSX multiplayer session and JoinFS running with auto broadcast enabled.

PC 2 running with a Sim, JoinFS and Autobroadcast enabled.

PC1 Broadcasts 1 aircraft to PC2.
PC2 Receives the aircraft so there are now 2 aircraft on the machine (the original aircraft and the one it received).

PC2 then Broadcasts its aircraft to PC1 (the 2 aircraft it now has).

PC1 Receives the 2 aircraft so now has 3 aircraft (the original aircraft and the 2 it received).

PC1 then Broadcasts the 3 aircraft it has.
PC2 Receives the 3 aircraft and adds it to the original aircraft it has.........

This is all done in milliseconds so aircraft duplicate to thousands within seconds.

The reason they duplicate is because FSX doesnt realise it already has the aircraft and so creates a new uid for it.

JoinFS then sees an aircraft with a uid it doesnt know about so transmits it.

I hope that helps.
