whazzup.txt client update schedule

Postby canuck21a » Sun Oct 22, 2017 3:00 pm

Hello,

Perhaps someone might be able to help?

How often does the client/hub regenerate the whazzup.txt file ?
I am assuming that my local hub is generating this file.
Also assuming that the php settings can change to something like 5000 or 5 seconds.

Reasoning: Trying to make the map update positions a little more often.

What version are you using?

I believe it was every 60 seconds but recently changed in the beta version to every second.

Yes, that's right. Version 1.2.8 (stable release today) is every second.

It will only generate the file if you enable it specifically in the General settings and it gets saved to Users\<User>\App Data\Local\JoinFS. At some point I'll add support for submitting it with a http post to a URL.

Thanks so much for the replies.
Time for me to get on with Version 1.2.8.

Alrighty then,

I updated to Ver 1.2.8 on my hub machine.
After updating I found that I could no longer connect clients internally to my external URL.
I changed to my internal IP and connections worked again.
I guess the networking changes have ruled out using external sources for internal LAN connected hubs.

I changed the web settings.php 'UPDATE_FREQ' from 60000 to 3000 .

After restarting the web server I checked the web page and it was updating more rapidly.
It seems to want to actually refresh about every 10 seconds for some reason.
Much better than before so I am a much happier camper now.

Time to get my club testers to check it out and they do need to update to version 1.2.8 or it won't work.

Thanks for the update Peter !

No worries, glad it's all working. ;)

I always thought it was a bit odd that it worked by using the external address to connect internally. But it doesn't really matter. It makes more sense now to connect directly with the internal LAN address.
