Password session protection

Postby Henry Street » Wed Mar 22, 2017 1:50 am

Peter,

Please forgive if this is addressed elsewhere in the forum but the search would not take the term "password".

What is the status and/or priority of implementing password protection on the JoinFS session?

I have 2 servers that are online largely 24x7 and want to have only select access.

Thanks for great execution of a great idea!!

Henry

Hi Henry,

thanks for posting.

A rough estimate I'd say probably two months away. Although that the current version is looking more complete and stable, there are still a few bug to fix, but the password feature shouldn't be long now.

As a temporary measure you can use a random port number on your server and have your group connect to that by specifying 10.20.30.40:25943, for example.

Peter,

Thanks for the quick response.

Your suggestion is a great way for us to proceed with testing and easy for us to implement.

Will keep an eye on the versions as you publish them.

Thanks again.

Henry

Any update on password protection for JoinFS for use on a private server?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Dayle,

that's very unlikely as JoinFS is no longer being developed. Best thing for this is to use a random port number and change it if necessary.
